Mammoth Hot Springs (July 19, 2010)

This site is well-known for its hot springs that shape terraces. The overall activity of the entire area and the volume of water discharge remain relatively constant. However, terraces are like living sculptures, whose shape always evolve. When some terraces cease to discharge water, the micro-organisms that colored them die. The only remaining color is the white of the mineral deposit (travertine).
